Corn

I know the past week or two I've been posting a lot.  But it's because I actually have stuff that I'm working on that I can actually write about.  hahaha

So remember I was telling you about the birthday present that I got from the hubby the other day?  I finally worked on it yesterday and got it all done.  So I used all the logs and made a raised bed with it.  Of course it's not my own creation/idea.  I just saw it on the internet and thought I would give it a try.  Logs are free since we have plenty of trees on our property.  And I like free, and I don't want to spend too much money on making a raised bed so this raised bed using logs idea is great!  And I even planted 4 rows of corn in it!  Yay, another project done and crops planted!  I feel so accomplished!

This is what the final product looks like.
I'm happy with it.

The queen

So the other day, I mentioned we recently just got bees.  I'm so super excited about it and I'm really looking forward to some home-grown honey hopefully in the near future!  With the number of hives we have I was told we will be getting a lot of honey when it comes time for harvesting.  So here's the latest bee update from our bee keepers/friends that they posted a few days ago.  Pictures and update are borrowed from our friends' facebook page:

"So today we had to make a tough but needed decision. One of the top bar hives were super 🐝 aggressive 🐝 🐝 aggressive. After much thought and talk between me and Jill, we decided the best option was to pinch the queen. Sometimes things like this are needed to reset a hive. Minutes after Jill finding her and pinching her, the hive was way calmer. We will give them a week to regroup and then introduce a new mated queen from Winding Creek Apiary and Bee Supply."

They had to kill the queen bee for one
of the hives for
the better good of everyone else.

Everything is looking healthy
